CL3 Maximum Demand Indicator
Ammeters of bi-metallic pattern commonly used for
the indication of electricity demand.
Introduction
These indicators are surface mounted and have a completely
insulated case. The cover is retained by two knurled insulated knobs,
which can be sealed to the re-setting knob by a wire and seal if required.
The re-setting knob is manufactured from a moulded insulated material
and there is provision for a phase identification disc if required.
The thermal movement employed in the CL3 Instrument comprises
a resistive temperature heating element and two bi-metallic coils, one
for ambient temperature compensation and the other for actuation of the
moving and slave pointers. The moving pointer, coloured black, will indicate
load at any instant, continuously averaged over a period equal to the
time lag. The slave pointer, coloured red, is driven by the moving pointer
and will remain at its maximum reading where it is firmly held by a friction
device until manually reset by an external knob on the front of the indicator.
Specifications
Movement Accuracy
Flat spiral bi-metal elements fully compensated against change in ambient
temperature to give an accuracy of 3% of the full scale value.
Scale
The scale length is 67mm and is calibrated from 20%
to 120% of the normal full load.
Power Consumption
6 VA at normal full load.
Time Lag
Indicators are available with time lags of -
20 minutes Pt. No. MFC-02644
30 minutes Pt. No. MFC-02645
Capacities
The CL3 indicators are designed for use with current transformers having
5 amp secondaries. The basic indicator has a maximum scale reading of
6 amps which allows a 20% overload on the nominal current.
